In the 13th minute of the first half, Kim Jin-gyu’s free kick was headed home by Lee Jun-seok to open the scoring. The game was then interrupted by a sudden downpour of heavy rain. After a lull in the game, Gimcheon scored in the 30th minute through a diving header by Lim Seung-gyeom.
In the 43rd minute, Chungbuk Cheongju made a change in the attacking lineup by removing Kim Do-hyun and introducing Yang Ji-hoon. The two teams battled fiercely in the heavy rain, but neither team could find the back of the net in the first half.
Both teams made changes at the start of the second half. Gimcheon introduced Choi Byung-chan in place of Kim Hyun-wook, while Chungbuk Cheongju replaced Moon Sang-yoon with Lee Seung-jae.
