The Los Angeles Angels may have decided to part ways with their star player, Mike Trout, 32.
The Angels are willing to trade Trout if he requests it, ESPN reported on Wednesday (Nov. 11), citing a USA Today report. Earlier this month, Trout reportedly planned to discuss his future with team management. “I haven’t thought about it (a trade) yet, but I’m definitely going to have some conversations in the winter,” Trout told the local Orange County Register.토토사이트
Trout is a superstar in Major League Baseball (MLB). He broke into the big leagues in 2011 and has won the American League (AL) Most Valuable Player award three times (2014-2016-2019). His individual career has been nothing short of spectacular, including 11 All-Star and nine Silver Slugger honors.
The problem is the team’s performance. The Angels have only made the postseason (PS) once since Trout’s debut, in 2014. Even then, they were eliminated in the AL Division Series (ALDS) and packed up early. This season, they’re still away from fall baseball and looking ahead to next season. To add insult to injury, Trout hasn’t appeared in a game since July 3 with a fractured wrist. As his batting average plummets, so does the team’s performance.
The Angels are set to lose their signature two-way star, Shohei Ohtani, to free agency after the season. With his departure, the team may need to reorient itself. That would likely put a question mark over Trout’s future. In his 13-year big league career, Trout has a .301 batting average with 368 home runs and 940 RBIs.
That’s a plus for the Red Sox, but it’s his astronomical price tag that’s the key. According to ESPN, “Trout still has seven years and $248 million ($331 million) left on the 12-year, $430 million ($57.24 billion) contract he signed in 2019. He also has a no-trade clause, which is given to players who have played at least 10 years and five years with one team.
