‘Best Defensive Player’ Oh Jae-hyun’s confidence: “I’m confident of stopping all 1v1s”

Jae-hyun Oh, 24, SK Knights, is ready for the new season.

Oh’s head is full of basketball. He sweats more than anyone else. He’s a hard worker that his teammates recognize. He never misses a day of training. The same goes for resting. Even though he’s at the age where he wants to play, he rests to play harder. He’s so dedicated to the game that he’s made it a hobby to find healthy food.

“Sometimes I think I can’t do it because it’s too hard,” says Oh, who trains in Irvine, California. But after a few years of playing, I feel like my body is getting stronger. If I don’t exercise because it’s hard, it’s harder on my heart. It’s better to have a hard body. There’s also a sense of joy when you see the effects in practice.” “Everyone trains a lot. Everyone prides themselves on working hard. But it’s only when you see the results that you know you’ve really worked hard. I don’t think my progress is fast. But I think hard work is my strength. I’m going to make sure that my training is well organized so that I can improve,” he said.

He added: “My body has never been sick. I rest well. I don’t train on weekends. I rest well and eat a lot of good food. If I hear that something I don’t like is good for me, I try it. I have that hobby. I eat fish and chicken breasts because they are delicious. I find it hard to eat American food because it’s so fatty and salty. I also take vitamins,” he laughed.

Oh donned the SK uniform as the first pick in the second round of the 2020 rookie draft. He pushed himself harder after applying for the early draft as a junior at Hanyang University. The result was a professional draft, and he hasn’t stopped thinking about basketball since.

“I was an unknown player until college,” Oh says. Even in my third year, I didn’t play well. Still, I thought that since I played basketball, I should prepare for once without regrets, so I applied for the draft and studied hard. I felt myself changing. “I don’t want to go back to the way I was,” he said, “because I’ve gotten better, and I’ve seen real results. “I don’t want to go back to the way I was,” he emphasized, “I feel like I’m being whipped to go higher because I’ve worked hard for the opportunity.

Participating in the Early Draft was a godsend. “One of my teammates is a guard, but he’s short, so I naturally had to look at No. 2. “I thought I had to look at No. 1 because there was no merit in being No. 2 because of my height (187 centimeters),” he said, “but when he got injured, I looked at No. 1. I thought, ‘I might as well take this opportunity to go in the draft. Everyone said, ‘We don’t know you in the pros, so why are you going?’ I only played in October because of COVID-19, and that’s when my story came out. I played well in the pro and in practice. I think it was the best choice. Everyone said it was too much, but it was a good choice because I have no regrets.”

Playing at No. 1, but still not leading the way Kim Sun-hyung was not able to join the training camp in the United States because he was withdrawn from the Asian Games team. Oh Jae-hyun is also preparing for the season by focusing on his reading.

“I saw a lot of No. 1s last season without Sun-hyung. In my opinion, it was a failure. I think the coach is giving me one more chance. I’m not going to play No. 1 for 20-30 minutes, but I’m focusing on leading because he said he wants me to play 5-10 minutes when Seon-hyung is resting.” “I think I was confused because of my inexperience. It’s also unfortunate that our defense is our strength. The coach made it easier for me to focus on defense at the No. 2 position. I have the responsibility of the No. 1 position, and I hope to fulfill it this season.”

Her shooting is still a weakness. I’ve been targeted by opposing sagging defenses. But she’s getting better. Last season, he averaged 0.9 three-pointers per game and shot 31.6 percent from beyond the arc.

“You can lose your strengths by thinking about your weaknesses,” Oh said. If you focus on shooting, you can’t play defense. If you focus on defense, one or two shots will go in. To overcome it, I have to play better defense. I try not to stress,” he said, “I don’t have many moving shots. (Heo) said, ‘You just need to practice open shots. You don’t have to time your shots well, you just have to shoot what comes out,’” he said. When I was younger, if I missed two shots, it was a big deal, but now he makes me shoot more, so I keep shooting. I don’t want my shooting percentage to go down, I want to get it up to 35%.”온라인바카라

The goal is, of course, the best defense award. Oh will try to break Moon Sung-gon’s (KT) long-standing reign of Best Defense for the fourth consecutive year.

“It’s an award I really want to win. My brothers said they would help me a lot because I can’t win it alone, and they told me to aim for it.” “When I give 100% in defense, I’m confident that I can stop everything one-on-one. I have no fear in that area. It’s the defense that can make up for the lack of linearity. I’m proud of myself.”
