Korea advances to the 7th-10th place match.
The South Korean men’s volleyball team, led by head coach Lim Do-heon, defeated Bahrain 3-1 (25-18, 25-21, 19-25, 25-23) in straight sets in the men’s volleyball 7th-12th place match at the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games on Thursday at the Linping Sports Center Gymnasium in Hangzhou, China.
The men’s volleyball team has suffered a series of shocking downfalls at the tournament. First, the team suffered a humiliating defeat in its first group match against India. They then showed some dignity against underdogs Cambodia, who are not even ranked in the FIVB, and made it to the round of 12, only to hang their heads in shame at the hands of Pakistan.
The team, including head coach Lim Do-heon, vowed to challenge for a gold medal for the first time in 17 years, but the result was a “no medal” before the opening ceremony of the Asian Games. It was the first time in 61 years since 1962 that Korean volleyball finished the Games without a medal.메이저사이트
Coach Lim Do-heon said after the round of 12 exit, “I don’t have anything to say. It’s unfortunate that (Jeon) Kwang-in and (Chung) Ji-seok are not feeling well, but it’s an excuse. This is how good we are at international competitions. I think we need to prepare a lot,” he said.
Fortunately, the match against Bahrain was a win. Lim Dong-hyuk (Korean Air) led the offense with 12 points, while Jeon Kwang-in (Hyundai Capital) also played well.
In the 7th-10th place match, Korea will face Thailand. Thailand is currently coached by Park Ki-won, who previously led Korean Air. The match between South Korea and Thailand will take place at 7 p.m. on Aug. 25 at the China Textile City Sports Center Gymnasium in Shaoxing, China.
