Ha Sung Kim hit safely in five straight games and the San Diego Padres snapped a three-game losing streak.
San Diego defeated the San Francisco Giants, 7-3, on Sunday at Petco Park in San Diego, Calif.
Starting pitcher Michael Wacka earned his 11th win of the season (2-0), allowing two runs on six hits (one home run) with six strikeouts and two walks over six innings.
Starting at second base and batting leadoff, Kim Ha-seong went 1-for-5 with a walk and a run scored, extending his hitting streak to five games. His season batting average remained at 2-for-7. He has been on a hitting streak since March 29 against the St. Louis Cardinals.
San Francisco struck first. San Diego starter Waka gave up a solo home run to Wilmer Flores after the first inning. But the game quickly turned around. It started with Kim Ha-seong.
In his first at-bat, Kim lined a 94.6-mile-per-hour four-seam fastball up the middle from San Francisco starter Tristan Beck. In the next at-bat, Fernando Tatis Jr. took Beck’s first pitch and smashed a two-run homer over the right field wall, sending Kim across the plate.
The game was 2-1. Juan Soto followed with a back-to-back home run to center field to give San Diego a 3-1 lead.
San Diego added one more run in the second inning. Luis Camposano led off with a double. After Matthew Batten flied out to center field, Trent Grisham followed with a single to right-center.
Kim Ha-Sung, who was batting second with two outs, flied out to right field. He swung at a 79.3-mile-per-hour sweeper on Beck’s sixth pitch, but it was caught in the right-field bleachers.
San Diego scored twice in the third. After scoring every run in the first inning, Kim led off the third with a walk. He grounded out to the second baseman.
San Diego cut into the 6-1 lead in the top of the fourth on RBI singles by Camposano and Batten. Waka gave up a sacrifice fly to Brandon Crawford with runners on second and third.
But he was able to get out of the jam without allowing another run, and the bullpen closed out the rest of the inning with a single run.
After Grisham singled up the middle in the bottom of the sixth inning to give his team a 6-1 lead, Kim came up to bat. In the eighth inning, he was retired on a grounder to third base.
In the top of the ninth, third pitcher Scott Barlow came on and loaded the bases with one out. He gave up a hard-hit ball to Blake Sabol. He then gave up a hard-hit ball to Ramonte Wade Jr. for a force out.메이저사이트
However, he induced Flores to ground out to shortstop, and shortstops Xander Bogaerts and Ha-Sung Kim made solid plays at the plate to preserve the four-run win.
