Hong Yun-sang scores first and Alibayev cannonballs mid-range equalizer to draw 1-1 with Pohang Gangwon

The Pohang Steelers have yet to secure a win against Gangwon FC this season.

Pohang took the lead through Hong Yun-sang in the 16th minute before Alibayev equalized in the 33rd minute to draw 1-1 with Gangwon FC in the 28th round of the 2023 Hana One Q K League 1 at Gangneung Sports Complex on Saturday.

With the win, Pohang has now played Gangwon three times this season and drawn three. With 13 wins, 11 draws, and four losses (50 points), Pohang remained in second place. Unfortunately, they were only able to close the gap on leaders Ulsan Hyundai (60 points), who have played one game less.

Gangwon failed to break through. With three wins, 12 draws, and 13 losses (21 points), they were unable to overtake 11th-place Suwon Samsung (22 points), which has played one game less.

The first goal belonged to Pohang. In the 16th minute, Wandelsson’s pass from the left flank was turned into a non-stop pass by Zeca, and Hong Yun-sang, who was rushing down the left side of the penalty box, calmly rattled the net with a non-stop right-footed shot.

Pohang then pushed Gangwon forward with solid organization. By the middle of the first half, Pohang’s ball possession reached 79%. Gangwon was unable to increase its possession due to loose forward pressure and frequent passing mistakes.

However, Gangwon turned the game around with a substitution. Alibayev, who came on in the 26th minute, rattled the net with a cannonball mid-range shot from behind the arc circle just seven minutes later.

Pohang missed a great chance to add an insurance goal in the 36th minute. Wandelsson’s free kick hit the opposition wall and the rebound found Han Chan-hee in the box. Han unleashed a left-footed shot on Hoesim, but it went well over the crossbar.

In the 39th minute, Gangwon pulled out four substitutions at once. Yoo In-su Kim Woo-seok Lee Kang-han Hwang Moon-ki were introduced.안전놀이터

Pohang wasted another great scoring opportunity in the 42nd minute. A long cross from the left flank was sensibly headed in by Kim In-sung, and Lee Ho-jae connected with a right-footed shot from the edge of the box that just missed the right goal post.
