Hwang Sun-hong plays his final group game. It’s a great opportunity to find new combinations.
On Thursday, the Chinese national football team will take on Bahrain at the Jinhua Sports Center Stadium in Zhejiang, China, in their third Group E match of the Hangzhou Asian Games. With two straight wins early on, Hwang has already secured a spot in the round of 16 and top spot in Group E.
Both the first and second games were comfortable wins. A 9-0 victory over Kuwait was followed by a 4-0 sweep of Thailand.
The key to Game 3 will be Lee Kang-in (Paris Saint-Germain). Lee rejoined the squad after recovering from a left quadriceps injury and playing against Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League on Oct. 20. Lee’s experience playing for Hwang has been limited to three matches at the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U-23 Asian Cup in June last year, so there is a lot of interest in his utilization.
In particular, Hwang and Lee were spotted talking for quite some time on the bench before the second match against Thailand.
“We talked about the team,” Lee said. “Me and the team are going in one direction, one goal. We talked about how we can achieve that goal,” he said, adding, “I will play where the coach wants me to play. Right now, I’m just trying to get along with my brothers, my friends, and my younger brother and try to get good results.”
Having secured a spot in the round of 16 by topping their group, they have some breathing room.스포츠토토
It’s a chance to test out a new combination with Lee Kang-in at the center, and of course, depending on Lee’s form, he could start the tournament. Only Lee Kang-in and Song Min-gyu (Jeonbuk Hyundai) have not played in the tournament.
Coach Hwang Sun-hong said, “We have several new players and some who are finding their form. As a whole, we haven’t been able to train together, so we will focus on combinations to prepare for the third match,” he said, adding, “Lee Kang-in needs to check his physical condition. It’s too early to tell.”
