Chungnam Asan FC’s ‘unbreakable will’ produced another miraculous comeback victory. It was the ‘Miracle of Asan’ again after more than a month. Although the team missed out on the promotion playoffs again this season, Chungnam Asan FC impressed its home fans with its fierce focus and indomitable fighting spirit at the end of the season. Chungnam Asan won a thrilling 3-2 comeback victory over Chungbuk Cheongju in the 26th round of the Hana OneQ K League 2 2023 at the Asan Yi Sun-sin Sports Complex on the afternoon of the 14th.
With the win, Chungnam Asan moved to 39 points (11 W, 6 D, 16 L), two points behind ninth-place Seongnam FC. On September 17, Chungnam Asan came back from a 2-3 deficit to win 4-3 at home against FC Anyang in the 31st round of the Hana OneQ K League 2 2023 at the Asan Yi Sunshin Stadium, thanks to Park Dae-hoon’s equalizer and Park Sung-woo’s comeback goal in the 44th and 45th minutes. It was one of the most dramatic comebacks in the K League 2 this season. The game went from 0-1 (Anyang lead) to 2-1 (Chungnam Asan comeback) to 3-2 (Anyang comeback) to 4-3 (Chungnam Asan comeback) before Chungnam Asan pulled off an emotional victory.
The next game to match this dramatic turnaround came less than a month later. Chungnam Asan hosted Chungbuk Cheongju in a home game on April 14, and the score was 1-1 at halftime. They took the lead in the 17th minute through Kang Min-kyu, but conceded the equalizer in the 39th minute through Jorge.
In the second half, heavy rain poured down, creating a scene reminiscent of the Anyang game a month earlier. The rain was so heavy that the balls kicked by the players could not roll properly.
