Pochettino to partner Son Heung-min, not Hicharlison…”Johnson likely to impress against Palace”

Brennan Johnson could partner Son Heung-min in the attacking third.

Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea will face off in the 11th round of the 2023-24 Premier League (PL) season at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, England, on July 7 at 5 p.m. ET. Tottenham is currently in second place with 26 points, while Chelsea is in 13th place with 12 points.

Football London released their predicted starting lineup for Tottenham against Chelsea, and it doesn’t include him. With Harry Kane gone to Bayern Munich, the Frenchman has struggled to find his place up front. He seemed to bounce back with a goal and an assist in the theater win over Sheffield United, but has struggled since. Johnson has emerged as a replacement for the underperforming Higuain, who has fallen out of favor with manager Enze Postecoglou.

Johnson was signed from Nottingham Forest this summer. Johnson, who was instrumental in Nottingham’s promotion to the PL after rising from the third tier, played every game in the PL last season, scoring eight goals and providing three assists. He used his quick feet to lead the attack on the Nottingham counter-attack and delighted head coach Steve Cooper by scoring whenever needed.

The Welsh international joined Tottenham this summer in a €50 million deal. After missing much of the early season due to injury, Johnson has adapted to playing on the left wing as a substitute. In the last match against Crystal Palace, he came on for an out-of-form Xherdan Shaqiri and took charge of the left side of the attack. He provided an assist for Son Heung-min’s goal to seal the win.

He has been tipped to start against Chelsea. According to Football London’s Aleddie Gold, “Johnson will start on the left. He was impressive against Palace, scoring an assist.” “Postecoglou will start Johnson, who was a joker at Selhurst Park,” said Rob Guest. He has one goal and three assists in his last six games and Johnson could be the man to replace him.”

The UK’s Evening Standard also reported that “Johnson will start on the left side of the attack in place of Heung-min. Johnson impressed with his assist for Son’s goal and could be handed a second start for Tottenham.”Meanwhile, the reunion between Son and Mauricio Pochettino is a hot topic. 무지개토토

“I don’t play center back,” said Pochettino, who will be facing Heung-min as an opponent. Our center backs have to stop him. We all know he’s a fantastic player. He is one of the best players in the league. I hope it’s not a bad day for him,” he said, looking forward to reuniting with his former pupil.
