Thousands of local fans flocked to catch a glimpse of Cristiano Ronaldo (38-Portugal) as the Al Nasr (Saudi Professional League) squad arrived in Iran for an Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Champions League (ACL) match.
The Al Nasr players arrived in Tehran by bus on July 17 (local time in Iran) for their ACL Group E match against Persepolis FC (Persian Gulf Pro League – Division 1) on July 19.
However, Al Nasr’s bus was forced to slow down due to the large number of Iranian soccer fans who had gathered to see Ronaldo.
In a video Al Nasr posted on Instagram later that day, fans surrounded the slow-moving bus and kept running around with their cell phones. Some cheered while wearing Al Nasr’s jerseys, while others held up posters featuring Ronaldo’s likeness. “The fans in the Iranian capital of Tehran gave our players an incredible reception,” Al Nasr wrote in the post.
A video posted by Saudi league news organization FAISAL RSL on social media showed fans chanting Ronaldo’s name in and around the lobby of a hotel in Tehran where the Al Nasr players were staying.메이저사이트
Meanwhile, Ronaldo, who has won the UEFA Champions League five times (once with Manchester United and four times with Real Madrid) during his playing days in Europe, is new to the ACL stage.
Al Nasr will be looking to win their first ACL title with Ronaldo in the lineup. Al Nasr’s main rivals in the league, Al Ittihad and Al Hilal, have won the ACL twice and four times respectively.
