Two months after facial impact fracture from a 144.4 km/h hit–“Horrible accident, not scared to return to the mound”

Right-handed pitcher Tanner Hauck (27-Boston Red Sox) will return to the mound for the first time in two months after suffering a facial fracture on a 144-mile-per-hour pitch.

“Hauck has recovered from his facial fracture and is scheduled to start against the Houston Astros on June 23 at Minute Maid Park in Texas,”, the official website of Major League Baseball, reported on June 21.

Hauck went down holding his face after being struck in the face by a Kyle Higashio pitch on June 18 against the New York Yankees in Major League Baseball (MLB). The pitch hit Hauck at 89.7 miles per hour (144.4 kilometers per hour). “He fell to the ground immediately, his face covered in blood,” said. Hauck had the wound stitched up at home at Fenway Park before being taken to a hospital.

After spending two months on the disabled list with an oblique fracture, Hauck will rehab and return to the big leagues.

“It was a horrible accident,” he said, “but I’m feeling good. I wanted to get back to 100 percent, and I’m ready to go and I’m not scared on the mound at all,” he said.

During his two months of rehabilitation, Hauck realized how much he loves the game. “Two months felt like a year and a lifetime,” he said. “It’s great to be back on the mound. It’s like a spark has been rekindled in my heart.”

Hauck, the 24th overall pick in the first round of the 2017 First-Year Player Draft, made his big league debut in 2020 and is 12-15 with a 3.66 ERA in 66 career games (33 starts). This season, he is 3-6 with a 5.05 ERA in 13 appearances.안전놀이터

For Boston, which is in a tight race for an American League wild-card spot, Hauck’s return makes life easier on the mound. “Hauck’s return is a huge boost for us,” said manager Alex Cora. We finally have a fully staffed mound,” said manager Alex Cora.

Justin Verlander is scheduled to start for Houston on April 23. Verlander is 8-6 with a 3.36 ERA this season.
